Unemployment Down Significantly Across Mid-Michigan

As released in the Bureau of Labor Statistics report last month, Michigan’s unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, held steady at 4.1 percent in September. Not seasonally adjusted, the unemployment rate fell from 4.0 percent in August to 3.7 percent in September. 

Locally, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report released on November 2, the Ann Arbor metropolitan area unemployment rate (not seasonally adjusted) dropped from 3.5 percent in August to 3.3 percent in September. In the Lansing-East Lansing metropolitan area, the unemployment rate dropped from 4.5 percent to 3.7 percent.

Michigan continues to make great progress towards recovering economic losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
